Get Ready! Welcome to SFLL Spring 2025

Dear Little League Families,

Welcome to SF Little League’s Spring Season 2025!  I am thrilled to get our kids back on the diamonds again. We are just two short weeks away from SFLL’s Opening Day Parade on March 2nd at Kezar Stadium.  We have over 1,000 kids, 85 teams and 275 volunteers in San Francisco Little League this season!

We have a season full of great events and baseball activities planned for our players in 2025.  Here are a few key dates for your calendar:

  • Practices begin the week of February 24 and first games are March 1-2 (weather permitting).

  • Opening Day is Sunday, March 2 with an all-league parade and ceremony at Kezar Stadium (teams will march together in uniform).

  • SFLL at Oracle Park is Sunday, April 6 when we will watch the Giants take on the Mariners.  We encourage teams to sit together so reach out to your coach or team parent about group tickets before purchasing your own.

  • SFLL will host the T-Mobile Home Run Derby and Major League Baseball's Pitch Hit & Run at our fields on Treasure Island as we wrap up the season in June.

San Francisco Little League is an all-volunteer organization, from our board members & front office to our coaches and everyone in between. SFLL’s programming is only possible because ALL of our families pitch in.

Please ask your coach how you can help them this season.  If you want to help out on the field you will need to complete SFLL’s requirements and get an ID badge first.  Both Little League International and the CA Department of Justice require every on-field volunteer to be registered, background checked and fingerprinted.

We are always looking for new team members, and we need some immediate help–please sign up to support these two very important activities:

  • Opening Day Parade & Ceremony, Saturday, March 2 at Kezar Stadium: We need help loading in, loading out, and a lot of help during the event.  Sign up here.

  • Snack Shack, Treasure Island: We need 2-3 volunteers to join our team as the Snack Shack coordinators as soon as possible.  Email our volunteer coordinator, Jaime Hersh to learn more and sign up.  Without this support, we will not be able to open the Snack Shack.

Have a fun and fantastic season!   I look forward to seeing you at Opening Day and your games this spring.  Scroll down for a helpful checklist to get prepared.

SFLL Spring 2025 To Do List

1. Get your gear: Players will receive a hat, jersey, and socks (all divisions), and a belt (Rookie-Seniors divisions only). Each team will have equipment including baseball bats, helmets, and catcher gear (Farm+) for the team to share.

  • Players should have their own glove and water bottle, and are encouraged to wear baseball pants. A batting helmet, baseball bat and cleats are all optional. Soccer cleats work great!  Metal spike cleats are not allowed except in the Juniors and Seniors divisions.  Be sure to read and understand these important Little League bat rules and make sure you don’t send your player to practice or games with an illegal bat!

  • Catchers are welcome to bring their own catching gear, and male players who plan to play catcher must wear a cup.

  • Little League rules do require male players to wear athletic supporters. [Rule 1.17]

  • Let your coach or player agent know if getting equipment for your child poses a financial hardship on your family and SFLL is happy to help.

2. Review SFLL's Codes of Conduct

3. Review SFLL's ASAP Safety Guide.

4.  Learn more about our umpiring program.  Adults and youth ages 12+  are eligible to umpire. We pay youth umpires for their time or volunteer hours.  Comprehensive training is provided by the league for free.

5.  Volunteer.  The success of San Francisco Little League is dependent upon parents and guardians stepping forward to help with the many tasks associated with running the league. Please volunteer your time so that the kids of San Francisco can continue to enjoy the best youth sports program in the area.
