The Rookie division is an introduction to kid-pitch baseball and competition for primarily advanced 8-year-olds and less advanced 9-year-olds (as of 8/31/24).

Lesser skilled and/or experienced 10-year-olds or extremely skilled 7-year-olds may also play in Rookie with the Rookie Player Agent's approval.

Players in the Rookie division are expected to meet the following qualifications:

• Can safely play catch with another player without endangering themselves or the other player
• Consistently fields routine ground balls and pop flies
• Consistently hits a coach-pitched ball thrown from ~46'
• Knows  all of the defensive positions and can go to that position when asked

Practices are once a week for 1 hour and are in San Francisco.  Games are every weekend either in San Francisco or at SFLL's fields on Treasure Island, and on average every other week on weeknights in San Francisco.

Coaches' kids are automatically assigned to the team with their parent.
