General Info

If there is standing water on the field or the field is clearly saturated, do not use it.
Do not attempt to remove puddles by sweeping water or digging. You may damage the field and risk everyone losing our rights to these fields.

GAME DAY UPDATES

Parents/Players:
Please call your coach or use GameChanger for the most up to date information about your game.

Coaches: Decisions are based on the fields and whether we control the fields. Work together to resolve concerns and then let your parents know.

REMEMBER TO CALL THE UMPIRE.  Please make a phone call, not everyone checks their email during the day.  Contact your assigned player agents if you have questions.

Treasure Island

CURRENT FIELDS STATUS:

Tepper Field: OPEN(Updated 7:35 AM Sun Mar 24, 2024)

Ketcham Field:
8:30 AM GAME CANCELED. OTHER GAMES: COACHES' CALL (Updated 7:35 AM Sun Mar 24, 2024)
FULL KETCHAM REPORT: There is a large puddle on the Third baseline. If no more rain today, water could be moved OFF the field using a broom, dustpan and buckets.  Once all the water is removed, raking, dragging and MODEST QuickDry could get the field playable again. (Tepper has a dustpan if you don't find one at Ketcham.)

1. Decisions are to be made first by the two coaches who are playing on these fields. The two criteria are player safety and damage to the field. Coaches who play when they should not will find their games swapped to other fields.

2. Coaches can decide to cancel their game in advance without going out to the field. However, they must phone the umpire to relay their decision (umpires names and phone numbers can be found on the umpire page of the SFLL website).

3. If the coaches agree to show up for a game, then it is the umpires' decision whether or not the game will be played. If there is no umpire, the coaches must confer and decide. There have been instances when coaches/parents have put pressure on umpires regarding this decision, and this is just as inappropriate as arguing a call and will result in the same disciplinary consequences. If the field is unsafe, the game should not be played. This may be hard to do with parents and players all waiting to play, but safety is the first concern.

SF Rec & Park Fields

2. If it has been raining and there is no information on the Live Update page, coaches can decide to cancel their game in advance without going out to the field. COACHES MUST ALSO NOTIFY UMPIRES.

SF REC & PARK IMPORTANT NOTICES
Live Updates Website: www.sfrecpark.org/507/Field-Rain-Out-Info

Rec & Park will post notices as soon as they learn that a field has been closed due to weather or other conditions. If it has rained recently and Rec & Park has information that fields will remain OPEN, they may also post that information on the Live Updates page.

Just because a field is not posted on the Live Update list does not mean it is Open.  You must respect signs posted on fields.  If there is a FIELD CLOSED sign on the field, you must follow it.

If there is no message in the link above, you should use your judgment unless the field is marked closed or a field director tells you it is closed.

Fort Scott

CURRENT FIELD STATUS:  COACH'S CALL--PLEASE USE GOOD JUDGEMENT  (Updated 9:04 AM Sat Mar 24, 2024)

Field Status Phone 1-415-561-2115

1. If there is no answer or no message, you should use your judgment unless the field is marked closed or a field director tells you it is closed. If the red light on the shed at the south end is on, that means the field is closed.

2. If it has been raining and there is no information on the hotline, coaches can decide to cancel their game in advance without going out to the field. However, they must phone the umpire to relay their decision (umpires names and phone numbers can be found on the umpire page of the website).

PAUL GOODE FIELD

This is a turf field with a dirt mound and batting circle.  Do not remove tarps from the mound or dirt areas if it is actively raining.  If there is a lot of water on the tarps, take great care to move the water OFF the field surface, preferably in the plants.  Do not dump water on the field and especially not on the mound!

The protocol is as follows:

1. Decisions are to be made first by the two coaches who are playing on these fields. The two criteria are player safety and damage to the field. If mound and batter's box are too wet to play then you have to call off the game.  If coaches deem those areas safe to play,  then once coaches confirm the turf areas are safe to play, the game can begin.
