BECOME AN SFLL UMPIRE

Umpiring can be extraordinarily rewarding for a number of reasons. Foremost among them is that as a Little League® umpire, you serve the children and families in your community.

Also, as a volunteer umpire, you gain an even deeper knowledge of, and appreciation for, Little League. Once you start officiating games you gain an entirely new perspective on the role umpires play in the Little League experience.

Youth ages 12+ and adults are eligible to umpire with SFLL.  No experience is required, just a willingness to learn and an enthusiasm for the game.

ADULT UMPIRES

As a volunteer umpire, adults are given a way to continue engaging with an awesome community while challenging themselves in a hobby and skill that is easy to begin and impossible to truly master. The opportunity for parent and child to umpire together as peers is an extra special opportunity of the program.  Experienced adult umpires may also pursue opportunities to join Little League’s District Umpire program.

YOUTH UMPIRES

SFLL is particularly proud of our Youth Umpire program, which offers kids the opportunity to develop self-confidence, hone skills in leadership and decision making, and earn money as a paid baseball umpire.

Youth umpires are compensated equal to training and live-game experience.  Wages start at $50 game. The most experienced umpire can earn up to $70 per game, plus bonuses for mid-week and travel games.

Umpires must be 12 years old by August 31, 2023 in order to participate.
