2020 Girls Softball Fall Season

Girls Softball Fall Ball is a great way for girls to keep their softball skills sharp and also enables girls to continue to learn and to have fun playing the game, and, of course, to make new friends. Also, for players new to softball, it is a great time to introduce them to the game.

Girls Softball Fall Ball games take place only on Sundays in September and October and concludes in early November. The season is developmental at all levels and because play is only Sundays it is easy to make your scheduling plans in advance. No scores or standings are kept and no umpires are assigned to games. Parent volunteers serve as umpires, calling balls and strikes from behind the pitcher. Teams may have a practice or two before the first game and there is a short amount of practice time allotted before each game.

In the kid-pitch divisions the season may end with a round-robin series of games where scores are kept and umpires are used.

FEES

Because of the pandemic, SFLL is delaying as long as we can the decision to go forward or not with the Fall Ball season. By signing up, SFLL expects that your child will commit to play for three hours each Sunday in the fall.

Registration fees for the 2020 Fall Ball season will not be collected at this time. Once we know that the fall season can commence, a fee of $175 would be collected before the start of the season in September.

We want you to play ball with us regardless of economic circumstances. The online SFLL application form includes a menu option to request a fee waiver due to economic hardship, and offers options to pay a reduced fee--or to request a 100% fee waiver. You will also be asked to provide a brief statement online supporting your fee waiver request.

  • Farm will be allowed 4 player grouping with the registration of a coach.

GIRLS SOFTBALL FALL BALL DIVISIONS

Farm/Rookies (6-8U) (kid-pitch)

Rookie is our first level of kid-pitch softball. Emphasis is placed on advancing skill development from the Farm level including introduction of pitching. Most players are 7 and 8-years-old, although some 9-year-olds will be best suited to this level. Players will generally be in 2nd and 3rd grades with some 4th graders depending on balance of registrations between Rookies and Minors.

Minors (10U)

Primarily 9 and 10-year-olds as of December 31, 2020. Depending on balance of registrations, 11-year-olds as of December, 2020 may be placed in Minors to achieve an even number of teams (to avoid bye weeks).

Majors, Juniors and Seniors (12U, 15U)

All 12, 13 and 14-year-olds as of December 31, 2020. 15-year-olds are also welcome to continue playing at the combined Majors and Seniors level for Fall Ball. Depending on balance of registrations, some 11-year-olds as of December 31, 2020 may be placed in Majors.
