Majors Spring 2008 Tournament Schedule
SFLL will hold its annual Jerry Taylor Tournament from May 31 through June 13. This tournament, which determines our Major Division Tournament of Champions entrants (American and National), is named for the man who led the Sausalito-Marin City Little League program for many years. It was through his support and guidance that SFLL was effectively restarted in 1996. This year we hope to again have Jerry throw out the first pitch at one of our Championship game.
The tournament structure is a full double elimination. The winner of each Division will advance to the District Tournament of Champions. Teams will be seeded 1-5 based on order of regular season finish. If there is a tie, the team with the best head-to-head record will receive the higher seed. If that is not conclusive, then a coin flip will determine. There will be no time limit on games except for darkness and at Ft. Scott when the field is no longer available. Games that are terminated due to darkness/field unavailablity that have completed 4 innings will be official games. It is solely the umpire’s decision when it is too dark to play. However, coaches and umpires can agree on a designated time to terminate play due to darkness in advance.
Throughout the tournament, the rules we have for the regular season will apply except that the only limitiation on pitching is the pitch count rule and there will be no replacement players. All pitching is governed by the pitch count rules in the rule book, and will be strictly enforced at interim pitch levelsIn any game, the home team will be the team with the higher seed. Rain contingency plans in general are to play rained out games the next day. If rain materializes, a detailed email with all tournament schedule adjustments will be sent to all coaches. Any suspended game will be restarted the next day 30 minutes preceding the scheduled game start time of another game.
MINIMUM PLAYERS: You must have 9 players to play the game. You can wait up to fifteen minutes for a player to arrive that's running late but that's it.  If a team has less than nine players, it's an automatic forfeit and goes in the books as a loss. If both teams have less than nine, it goes down as a loss for both teams.
