President’s Message
Welcome to San Francisco Little League (SFLL), an all-volunteer organization annually offering baseball and softball to approximately 1,800 San Francisco boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18. SFLL games are played on a variety of fields throughout the City, including on its three fields on Treasure Island, Ft. Scott and Paul Goode fields in the Presidio, and fields provided by SF Rec & Park.
We have closed a very successful Spring 2008 season. All of our divisions had competitive and close playoff games. And for the first time ever, two of our teams won the District Tournament of Champions in both the Minors and Majors Divisions. Congratulations to SFLL American Blue Jays, winners of this year’s Section 3 Minors Tournament of Champions. And Congratulations to SFLL American Yankees, winners of this year’s Section 3 Majors Tournament of Champions, with an amazing last inning comeback which included three home runs!
We were honored to host more than thirty TOC and All-Star games at a variety of locations this past summer, from Tepper and Ketcham Fields at Treasure Island (which never looked better), to USF. In a testament to all of our volunteers, all of SFLL’s All-Star teams had winning records and placed into the elimination rounds. Particular congratulations are in order to the SFLL American 10-11 team for winning the District 3 tournament, and to the SFLL Seniors team, winners of the District Tournament as well. And congratulations and thanks to all of the players and volunteers that made our All-Star season such a success.
We are now forming teams for our Fall Ball season. Fall Ball is a relaxed way to improve baseball skills and in some cases, prepare for a more advanced playing level. There are no standings or practices, just fun! Games are played on Sundays in September, October and early November. We will be fielding teams in six divisions.
SFLL depends on the generosity of its volunteers for coaching, umpiring, and administration. As you or your child participates this year, please consider assisting SFLL meet its mission of providing a quality sports experience for the boys and girls of San Francisco. We are in the process of filling a variety of openings on our Board of Directors for next year and would welcome your participation. Sign-ups for players and coaches for Spring 2009 will open in late November. We look forward to seeing you this season.
