SFA 11's All-Star Season Comes To An End

By Steven Johnides

SFA lost to Fairfield All-Stars on Saturday 11-1 in 5 innings. Two players from Fairfield did all the damage hitting 5 homeruns and a double. SFA had plenty of chances themselves, leaving men on base all day, but could not get the clutch hit.

On Sunday SFA lost to Vacaville 12-2, in 6 innings. SFA was only down 4-1 through 5 innings and had been knocking on the door all game. SFA had the bases loaded three times and hit five line drive outs. SFA had the wind knocked out of their sails with each one. Fielding  miscues at the end opened up the flood gates for the big inning and Vacaville capitalized. Still fighting to the end SFA managed to load the bases again, and again could not score.

SFA had hoped for a much better showing at the Sectionals and it became very apparent that this was a much higher level of play then they had seen at the District level.

After a long three weeks of traveling and playing baseball the players could not help but feel very satisfied in what they accomplished. This was an experience they all shared and the memories will last them a lifetime. We all felt honored and privileged for having had the opportunity to represent SFLL.

The players are already talking about getting back next year.

Gotta love it.

Lastly, I'd like to thank SFLL for all the great support they give to the All-Star program and all the hard work they put in when hosting the games.
