SFN Out Gunned In Semis

07/13/2010, 1:30pm (PDT)
By D. Moody

5 hits in 12-1 loss

SFN showed up in Fairfax to do battle with Tiburon in the District Semi-Finals. Problem was SFN forgot to bring their bats. Bradley Barish pitched SFN into the 4th inning down 1-0. Tiburon's first 2 batters walked to lead off the inning and, as they did in the first game, their bats came alive to plate 5 and take a 6-0 lead. Kai Moody then led off SFN's half of the 4th with his first career BIG FLY into the West Marin parking lot beyond the left field fence. That blast along with Barish's 1-out double seemed to rattle the Tiburon pitcher and gave SFN hope of climbing back into the game. But to his credit, the pitcher settled down and got out of the inning. Tiburon added 2 more runs (both unearned) in the 5th before they drove the final nail in with 4 runs in the 6th. In their half of the 6th, SFN gave it one last shot. After Jackson Driver's 1-out single (following Kai's obvious attempt at a 12-run homer) Barish drove a screaming liner into the left-center gap that was tracked down by Tiburon's center fielder to snuff out SFN's last comeback attempt . . . .

The SFN players took everything in stride realizing they did a pretty good job finishing one game\day short of their goal of playing in the final game of the tournament. Throughout the tourney, each National All-Star contributed to the team in a major way and they walk away a proud bunch . . . . Great Job SFN ALL-STARS!!!!
