Coming from behind, San Francisco American won its third straight game of the District 3 playoffs with a 6-4 win over Dixie Terra Linda at Gallinas Field in San Rafael on Thursday night.
DTL got on the board with a single run in the first inning. SFA struck back in the bottom of the first as Jacob Shaw singled to drive in Brandon Balladares. Balladares then singled in Matty Hazelwood in the second inning to make the score 2-1 SFA. DTL bounced back, scoring three runs in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead.
The bullpen was key again for SFA. Kobi Allen pitched out of a jam in the third inning and tossed a scoreless fourth inning. Clayton Read, who has pitched in all of SFA's wins, relieved Allen in the fifth and did not allow DTL to score. Allen and Read gave SFA the opportunity to come back-- and come back they did. SFA scored a single run in the third inning to make the score 4-3, and then regained the lead in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. The big blows came on singles by Allen, Adam Singer and Shaw. When Read forced DTL's last batter to ground out to Singer in the sixth inning, SFA had recorded a 6-4 win.
SFA is now 4-1. SFA faces SF National on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm at Tepper.
